Because the competition is based on the idea that there are many appropriate ways in which to represent and remember slavery, there will be no one winner. Five teams or individuals that display the best work as determined by the jurors will have their travel expenses paid provided by the competition to present their work at the symposium and exhibition in the spring of 2010. The winning teams' schools will also become the host of the traveling exhibition.
