(1901-1979) An African American Expressionist artist, Delaney worked out of New York City and often exhibited and was a part of many black artisan groups like the Harlem Artists Guild. He also exhibited much among in the white art world at galleries such as the Whitney Studio. He became most successful in the 1940s where he exhibited at the Pyramid Club and RoKo Gallery. Although he started out at an Expressionistic painter he turned in an abstract artist and spent much of his time in Europe.
