MANIFESTATIONS OF MEMORY ID#: 090012501 To me, the goal of this project --- Manifestations of Memory is to create a significant symbolize as a memorial to American Slavery. Memorial is an emotional experience process. So I would like to create a special continuing journey of understanding the slavery history. My concept of this project is to create a visitor organism of sculpture group. It basic consists of totally six very simple platforms in different size and different high. They combine together in order to form a group of sculpture, which has continuing circulation inside to give a continue up-toward American slavery history exhibition. The different platforms could be presented different period history issues in the timeline of American slavery history. The up-toward circulation---in vs. out, also signifies the hardly and lengthy process of the whole abolitionism movement, and finally it got the victory. This project could be easily to assembly and disassembly comment on temporal to transit to different cities or countries to give the show to more and more people, and inhabit all societies and cultures. This project is not camouflaged. Instead it is celebrated through its identity and presentation of achievement. It could be set in any public space, such as the public park, city square and so on. People could take a 5 to 10 min or longer time to have a look of this history journey, when they pass by, or during the weekend when they enjoy their park time. Parents with their children would have a significant afternoon for that weekend.
