Nigger, Negro, Ghetto, African American, Black! So many names, so much passed judgment, but the dream is beginning to manifest. We as society must educate our selves about past history. Thus, allowing us to prevent the mistakes of our past. This written expression as well as design for the manifestation of memories will not only educate, but it will also interact with the public. This will give the public a chance to learn about slavery.
First the slavery memorial or "expressions" as I have named it will aim to educate everyone partially about our past and also look at our progress. As a nation we were founded on the words of "all man are created equal" and whether it be by force or by choice we have made this statement true as time passes. This enlightenment that we have and continue to go through has made us the nation that we are today. The design will have projections expressing this as well as educational assigned areas. The plan its self should be representative.
Second, the design sight will be located in a prominent area of downtown Miami called Brickell. It is a walk through memorial that will help the viewer experience a slaves journey as well as have knowledge as to what was going on in those times.
In conclusion, this memorial serves to give insight as to a slave’s life and experience. In addition it will bring forth the advances of our African American community. A tribute such as this one is long overdue.
