We shall not forget When I hear the word slavery I think of sufferance , hunger , pain , boats , money , greed , broken souls… My project ‘ s concept was the boat – the boat which was transforming the people into slaves , so I kept the shape. At the surface there are only the entrance areas, with the vertical circulation – stairs and elevators – I chose to develop the building at the basement and I proposed a labyrinth horizontal circulation ---you will not go back – there is just one exit and you have to make all the corridors to arrive there. The project propose a lot of sensations inside: you hear the voices, the songs they used to sang , you see the pictures you feel the pavement texture-which will lead your mind to the wounds slavery made ; you don’t have to feel comfortable inside , you don’t have to consider it nice … you just have to let yourself go and experience. These sensations should be amplified by the fact that inside there is natural light only from above (zenital). At the surface , between the entrance and exit areas I suggested an open garden , a place where you can reflect , where you can reconnect to the exterior reality.
